Good Stuff – »The urban foodie in times of the Corona lock-down«

Jakarta is a city, which has a lot to offer for the discerning gourmet; many places to visit – normally. Since half a year, the life in Jakarta is less sparkling, actually a bit boring. Going out with friends is out of the question, most places are closed and the ones still open are – hm, dull, boring, sterile. No fun. Where is the way out, what is the “Plan B”?

Order out! Yes, there is nothing new in ordering a pizza in a cardboard box or lukewarm mie-bakso from the green Go-Food man. But wait, there is more, you only have to dig a bit deeper. Here are the reports from some pleasant food-experiences in the last weeks:

Pullman »Roasted Chicken«

What can be special about a fried chicken? Isn’t Indonesia the absolute »chicken ‘n rice« country? The answer is a definite »yes, but …«. There is more. The Pullman, known for top-of-the-line food and beverage offers – among other things – roasted chicken to go, or rather sent to your home. For Jakarta, being a multi-cultural place, the roasted chicken comes in two versions: Western or Indonesian style.

Roasted chicken, Western Style. This picture does not do the great cooking enough justice. The chicken has a mild, crispy skin and is incredibly tender.

For the complete list of the Sana-Sini to go (Sana-sini is the name of Pullman’s main restaurant. The name means literally »here and there« or better »a bit of everything« , the link to order is here. Beef Brisket, Tuna Loin, served with steamed rice – it’s only one phone call away.

LC Smokehouse JKT »𝙒𝙝𝙚𝙧𝙚 𝙨𝙢𝙤𝙠𝙚𝙙 𝘼𝙢𝙚𝙧𝙞𝙘𝙖𝙣 𝘽𝘽𝙌 𝙢𝙚𝙚𝙩𝙨 𝙡𝙤𝙘𝙖𝙡 𝙙𝙚𝙡𝙞𝙘𝙖𝙘𝙞𝙚𝙨«

These guys are special: Not a one-fits-all food outlet, but rather something with a special – smoked – note. Pretty unique in Jakarta, the Hamburger with smoked beef in a home-made bun. (Is a Hamburger without minced meat actually a real Hamburger?)

There is more, than I can show in this two pictures. One thing is clear: We will be back for more!

Salmon en croûte: Fresh salmon with spinach and crème fraîche, wrapped in hand-rolled pastry crust, served with honey mustard sauce,

Generous portions, of course, properly packaged and delivered to your location: only needs a short warm-up in the microwave.

Intercontinental »Steak and much more«

Of course, there are more options. The Intercontinental offers food outside, »Let us come to You« is their slogan, and their menu is here.

Our experience: Excellent (as expected). We had a steak and grilled salmon with all the extras and trimmings, it was just great. In particular, the medium-rare stake was perfect, even more when considering the delivery time. Unfortunately, I have not made any pictures (sorry, I was hungry), but I will post pictures on the next occasion,

When ordering, check the delivery cost. It appears that the Interconti restricts the delivery to areas near the hotel (Pondok Indah, Gandaria, Cilandak, Cipete, Lebak Bulus, TB Simatupang).
